The Inspiration Behind Giving Roots
As a high school senior, I’ve spent the last few years looking at the world through the lens of leadership and service. My journey began with the discipline and community focus of Scouting, leading me to earn my Eagle Scout and Eagle Palm ranks. It was while I was researching my Eagle Scout project that I came across vital community needs that were either not being socialized or were completely overlooked. I realized that while we often celebrate the 'big' moments, it is the everyday heroes—our veterans and local leaders—who quietly hold our neighborhoods together while their own needs often go unseen.
In parallel, my serving on the Youth Advisory Board of the Center for Research & Collaboration significantly strengthened my understanding of organizational impact, allowing me to work directly on the volunteering and fundraising side of nonprofit advocacy. These professional insights, combined with the confidence and voice I developed while performing on stage in theater productions, shaped my vision for change.
I was inspired to start the Giving Roots Foundation to bridge the gaps I discovered in our community. For me, Giving Roots is a commitment to 'Honoring Service' and taking an active role in revitalization, ensuring that the neighborhoods these heroes call home receive the advocacy and support they deserve. By Growing Community Through Giving, I believe that we plant the seeds for a more supportive and revitalized future for everyone.
